Barapukuria Thermal Power Station is the only coal-fired thermal power station located in Hamidpur Union of Parbatipur Upazila of Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. [1] It was built in 2006. Its total production capacity is 525 MW. The plant has 2 units (125*2=250) of 125 MW generating capacity and one unit (3rd unit) of 275 MW capacity. The 3rd unit came into production in December 2017 and construction started in 2015. The center uses coal from Barapukuria Coal Mine. It is managed by the Bangladesh Electricity Development Board.[2]
